Smoothing Meshes

Sometimes you want a smoother mesh, maybe the original photo is a bit pixellised, or anyway the resulting mesh is too jagged or irregular. The smoothing slider is at the top right of the main dialog box and goes from 0.0 to 1.0. (For the technically inclined this is a percentage of the number of X points in the mesh.)

 

0.0 means no smoothing, 1.0 means lots of smoothing. Have a look at the effect of smoothing settings 0, 0.15, and 0.25 on a mesh:

As you can see, by the time you get to 0.5 the smoothing is quite heavy. You'll probably never need to go above 0.5.
