How to convert between photometric file formats.

If you've ever had to convert from an Eulumdat to a IESNA or from an LTL to a CIE then you'll know how difficult it is. Luckily there is a way of doing this using just drag, drop and save as! (If you have thousands of files to convert you'd do better to look at this page.)

So, how does it work. Simply run PhotoView:

... then click on the File menu, Save File... item. In the dialog box you can set the format of your choice. Read whatever file format you like, and save whatever file format you like:

If you are saving as IESNA then you'll get some options to set:

You can export IESNA in any one of 4 formats, LM86, LM91, LM95 or LM02.

You can also decide if you want to rotate the photometry by 90 degrees. This sometimes required because there does not seem to be a worldwide consensus on which C-plane runs across the road and which along it! And finally you can decide whether to output the IESNA file as a relative or absolute photometry.

That is for IESNA, but the other file formats (Eulumdat LDT, OxyTech OXL, CIE LTL etc.) do not need you to specify these options.
