The Selection Rectangle |

When you want to add a new image or change the selection of an existing image you use the selection rectangle. It appears in the scan area of the screen and looks like this:
This is a bit different from the selection rectangles you may be used to, but this is for several reasons:
You can remove the selection rectangle by hitting the ESC key on your keyboard.
You can start a new selection rectangle by dragging far from the current one. You may want to do this if the rectangle gets impossibly small:
If you want to select small areas you can use the sub image fine tuning dialog to crop your larger selection.
When you can see the selection rectangle you can use the Add command or the Substitute command by hitting the A or the S keys on your keyboard.
The selection rectangle is used for rough selection of the image. You can change size and angle of the rectangle with more accuracy using the Sub Image Fine Tuning Dialog.
