Smoothing surfaces for stereolithography. When photos and digital images are converted to 3D meshes (either DXF or STL) sometimes the best results are obtained when the mesh is smoothed. Here are two examples, one showing a smoothing at 0.25%, the other at 1.25%.
In the above image the final surfaces is wekk defined, but maybe too much so for some stereolithographic machines. In the image below the smoothing has been increased, and the resulting mesh is much less rugged: i See also limits.
