Usually the line width should be nearly the same as or less than the line spacing. You can also change the color of the paper and the color of the pen. From version 16 onwards there is an extra slider for adding "noise" to the image to make it look even more "hand made".
The PRO version of Repligator can save the image as a vector file in PostScript or EPS format.
If you click in the Paper Color (or Pen Color) rectangle you can set the "source" of the background (or pen):
Which means that your "pen" or background is no longer limited to a single color:
